Hi, I’m Doree.

I bring people together through my podcasts, my writing, and my social media around topics that are sometimes hard to talk about — like getting older and infertility and how to take care of yourself when the world is falling apart. I also like to write and talk about culture, women’s issues, parenting, media, and celebrity. My new book, Thanks for Waiting, is about how I came to terms with, and even came to enjoy, being a late bloomer. It’s out now from Ballantine — order it now.

Thanks For Waiting: The Joy (& Weirdness) of Being a Late Bloomer

On sale now!

“While Shafrir’s droll sarcasm is perfectly calibrated, it’s her vulnerability and writing about more difficult experiences—such as her struggle with infertility—that will keep readers rapt. This coming-of-age story raises the bar.”

Forever35 Podcast

On Forever35, LA-based writers and friends Doree Shafrir and Kate Spencer dive into the self-care practices that we all text our friends about — from which serums they’re using right now and whether drugstore mascara is as good as the fancy stuff, to finding a great therapist, navigating the challenges of friendship, and what they’re making for dinner.

Startup: A Novel

“Biting and astute.” — New York Times Book Review

Doree’s first novel published by Little, Brown in 2017. A sharp, hugely entertaining story of youth, ambition, love, money and technology's inability to hack human nature. Now out in paperback!
